THE AUSTRALIAN BEE GEES

SOUNDS LIKE THE BEE GEES

LOOKS LIKE THE BEE GEES

The Bee Gees a phenomenon!

Apart from the Beatles and the Stones, no other group has come close to producing such a consistent quantity of music over so many decades. It is a consistency that has lasted over 30 years, during which time the Gibb Brothers have given the world music as varied as 'The New York Mining Disaster', 'Massachusetts', 'How Deep is Your Love' , 'Night Fever', 'Jive Talking', 'Lonely Days', 'Tragedy' and 'How Can You Mend a Broken Heart',  plus scores of other hits., They are the only songwriters in history to have five songs in the Billboard Top 10 at the same time, Number One hits in four decades, with artists as diverse as Barbara Streisand, Celine Dion, Destinyís Child, Janis Joplin, and Elvis Presley covering their songs. Just one jaw-dropping statistic is that the Bee Gees have now sold over 110 million albums worldwide

STAYIN' ALIVE
The Australian Bee Gees

Tribute bands are now a recognised ingredient of the entertainment scene but new arrival, The Australian Bee Gees Show, is a cut above the rest.

Making its UK debut at the start of a national tour in Manchester, the home of the Bee Gees, you would expect, in the circumstances, that the audience would have been more judgmental. However, the minute the group finished its first number and the audience heard the soaring high notes and the expert harmonies, they responded magnificently.

Technically, the sound was excellent for this fine five-piece band. Thereís imaginative lighting and a series of projected video images. But letís face it, the audience had come to hear a celebration of their favourite music and thatís exactly what they got, with hit after smash hit, written by the only artists to write and produce six consecutive number one hit singles, with five songs in the top ten at the same time.

This excellent tribute band, which has enjoyed success worldwide, is headed by Michael Clift as Barry, with David Scott as Robin and Wayne Hosking as Maurice, making one of the best tribute bands Iíve seen.

They were brave enough, in the second half, to sing a close harmony medley with a simple guitar backing but the rest of the time they had the audience clapping and singing along or dancing in the aisles which certainly augurs well for the rest of its national tour.
